The cellular 3G / 4G cell services don't reach the mooring areas at sea. When in port or on land, the foreign cell phones, often don't use the same 3G/4G cellular frequencies of local service providers. The international cellular roaming frequency, is very limited in capacity. The connections the seamen receive, are not the high capacity provided by international Wi-Fi 802.11 frequencies, which are common worldwide.

SEA GATE (SG) Wi-Fi service provides with the use of legal, high power, long distance Wi-Fi Hubs near the ports and seaways, in the direct visibility of ship mooring and anchorage places.

The SG global service works as single window for seafarers and allows them:

✔ to use messengers or special apps for communication with the family and friends

✔ to use learning portal

✔ to purchase goods and souvenirs online with home / port delivery

✔ to order food and beverages from local restaurants

✔ to watch IPTV (Internet Protocol Television)

✔ to watch VOD (video on demand)

✔ to listen to music on subscription

✔ to book a room in a local seamen's club's hotel (waiting for boarding or for comfortable COVID-19 observation while crew changing)

Disadvantages of satellite Internet

✔ Prone to weather-related disruptions or lags in speed

✔ Service can be more expensive than cable or DSL service

✔ Satellite Internet providers place monthly data caps on how much data a user may download or upload

✔ High latency makes playing real-time online gaming impractical

✔ Not known for being a cheap Internet option

All seamen need to increase their skills to go upstairs in professional ladder. We believe that sharing part of our time or resources for educating purpouses can change the world.

✔ funding for small and medium-sized businesses owned by current or former seafarers

✔ creating access for Union members and members of their families to educational and financial resources
